If this card design looks familiar it's because you might have seen my bloggy friend, Sarah's about a month ago (see hers here). She was following a sketch challenge on SCS for that week. I loved how she made the corner piece using a punch. Since I didn't have that punch, I cut my corner piece by hand (a punch would have been much easier!). Again I used the KI Memories patterned paper, along with the little epoxy leaf sticker which is also from KI. Cardstock is More Mustard and Buckaroo Blue from Stampin UP. Also from SU is the ticket corner punch, the sentiment and the vintage pewter brad.
Ed and I did our grocery shopping this morning and bought all the food/stuff we would need for our Sunday School class dinner that we are having tomorrow and also everything we will need for our contribution to Thanksgiving dinner next Thursday. I really wanted to get the shopping done early so I didn't have to fight the crowds at the grocery store next week. I'm thankful for a refrigerator/freezer that is well stocked and cupboards that are bulging right now. We are very blessed. There's a family in our church who is in real need of some food / supplies / financial help right now (their only source of income was removed from them recently), so we are helping them and ministering to their needs during this time. I believe God blesses us so that we will in turn give of our resources to others in need. I like to give anonymously sometimes (though it's not always possible) because it takes the attention off of me and directs it to God who is the Giver of all things great and wonderful!
Emilee called us today and said she was headed to Chicago to feed the homeless this morning. I'm so glad the Lord has given her such a compassionate spirit. I'm anxious to hear what she has to tell us when she gets back (hopefully, we'll get a phone call again tonight or tomorrow from her). The last time she went she met a crack addict who was homeless and living on the streets of Chicago. She said talking to him give her some new insight on what addiction is - that it can be anything that you allow to take control of your life - not just drugs; but those things that keep us from surrendering everything to our Heavenly Father and get in the way of our focus on doing His will.
Stephen is doing a Youth Retreat this weekend with the youth group from our church. They will be back tomorrow. He loves ministering to these young people (and by ministering, I also mean extreme fun times, too!) Remember what I said in a previous post about Stephen being just a big kid? Well, his joy of life is so contagious and the teens just love him! I can't wait to hear all about their fun weekend.
I know you've been counting your blessings lately; have you been sharing them, too? Take time today or this week to do that. You will be amazed at how God's goodness will shine through your willingness to share your bounty/gifts with others - no matter how big or small they may be.
this I am going to do today!! lol! going to leave it up so I can make the card and post on my blog :)
thanks for the inspiration!
